My first serious encounter with the term credibility took place
in the aftermath of the clergy sexual abuse scandal. Up to then
I had never given it serious consideration. For the first time, I
encountered clergy and laity losing trust in Church leadership and
it was happening at an alarming rate. I prefer the term scandal to
describe what was happening rather than the term crisis….
