As a way of evaluating the current state of the synodal process, I
am going to share with you my ‘read’ on the Final Document of the
recent Synod (the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod
of Bishops, now often referred to as the ‘World Synod’, with its
theme of ‘For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and
Mission’).1
