Bishop Willie Walsh died suddenly, on the 19th of February 2025 –
a rare man by any standard. His loss has been deeply felt not only
in our Diocese of Killaloe but by many in different parts of the
country. The great outpouring of love and affection for him over
the days of his funeral, on local and social media especially, is a
testimony to the profound impact he had on people. What came
across in all that was said and written was the heart-felt sense of
loss that people felt. We know that we have lost someone special.
What follows are some memories and reflections based on my
observation of Willie over long years when I was very privileged
to know him and work with him
