Helen Grealy – Celtic Christianity: Hope for our Churches

3.50

introduction
‘Celtic Christianity’ describes how the Gospel of Jesus Christ was
lived among the peoples of North West Europe in the early centuries
of the Christian era. The Christ event and Christian message is so
powerful that it has been expressed in many forms over the last
2,000 years. A very significant way of living the Gospel developed
on the edges of Europe. This form of Christianity flourished in
Britain until the 7th century and in Ireland until the 12th century
and beyond. Parts of Spain, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy
and Germany were also under its influence. Today, the richness
of those times is explored by scholars, media researchers, and
believers. I propose that the beliefs and practices of these early
Christians have much to offer to our Churches today
