A good number of modern ethicists have lost confidence in a natural law approach to addressing contemporary moral issues. It is easy to see why this is the case if the model of natural law that such ethicists are working with is the static, inflexible, biologically reductionist and physicalist one inspired by the second-century AD Roman jurist Ulpian.
