The purpose of the 39th referendum is to add text to Article 41.1.1
of the Constitution acknowledging that the Family may be founded
on marriage or other durable relationships, and the deletion of the
words “on which the Family is founded” from Article 41.3.1, in
response to the recommendations of the Citizens Assembly on
Gender Equality
